FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If October 7 cracked something open in you, and you're Jewish or someone who loves us deeply, you'll fit right in.
This will be a small group by design, and the intimacy is the point. You don't need to be a certain kind of Jewish, a certain level of observant, or feel a certain way about politics.
You just need to want to be there.
You will fly into SJO (Juan Santamaría International Airport, San José).
Yes. We are arranging group transfers from SJO on October 11 and back to SJO on October 18. Details will be sent once you've registered. If your flights are delayed or you prefer to come in early, we can share other transportation options (at an additional cost to you).
Domestic flights to the Caribbean coast are also available at an additional cost.
Each day will include morning and evening circles, delicious meals, and downtime.
The week will include a combo of meditation, breathwork, creativity, storytelling, a cacao ceremony and local excursions.
This is an adults-only retreat. But your partner is welcome if they are attending the retreat as well.
We can match you with a roommate if you have not made previous arrangements. Please let us know when you register.
Karen lives in Costa Rica and has always felt genuinely safe here as a Jewish woman.
In addition, Costa Rica maintains strong diplomatic and cooperative relations with Israel, characterized by growing bilateral trade and political collaboration. Costa Rica also became the sixth Latin American nation to officially adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism.
While we wish we actually did control the weather, we don’t.
The Caribbean coast has its own microclimate: while the rest of Costa Rica is in rainy season in October, this region tends to enjoy a mini dry season.
Expect warm, sunny days with highs around 86°F, cooling to around 75°F in the evenings. When it does rain, it's usually a short, heavy afternoon or evening shower that passes quickly. The ocean is warm and ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
Pack light. This is barefoot and flip-flop territory. We'll send a full packing guide closer to the date.
We strongly recommend it, specifically a policy that includes trip cancellation and medical coverage.
WorldNomads.com offers a solid standard plan covering emergency medical, trip cancellation, lost baggage, and delays. Note that the $750 non-refundable deposit is not covered by cancellation insurance.
A $750 non-refundable deposit is due at registration. 50% of the total investment is due by August 10th. The remaining balance is due by September 1st.
Cancellations made before August 15th: 50% of the total trip price is forfeited. Cancellations after September 1st: the full investment is forfeited, unless we're able to fill your spot in which case everything except the deposit will be refunded.
We reserve the right to cancel the retreat if minimum numbers aren't reached, in which case all payments are refunded in full.
Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
